1. About this policy

2L Constructions (we, us or our) provides building, carpentry and outdoor structure services to customers in Victoria. This policy applies to personal information we collect from prospective customers, customers, property owners, suppliers and other people we deal with.

We handle personal information in line with this policy and applicable Australian privacy law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your full name, phone number and email address;
  • your suburb, property address and other site or location details;
  • details about what you want to build, including structure type, dimensions, preferences, budget, timing, notes and uploaded photos or plans;
  • records of our communications, appointments, quotes, contracts, variations, invoices and payments;
  • information needed for permits, site assessment, suppliers, trades and project delivery; and
  • technical website data such as IP address, browser and device information, referring page, approximate location and interactions with our website.

Please do not send sensitive information unless we ask for it and it is reasonably necessary for your project. If you provide information about another person, please make sure you have their permission to do so.

3. How we collect information

We usually collect information directly from you when you:

  • submit a Meta instant form on Facebook or Instagram;
  • complete an enquiry, quote or estimator form on our website;
  • call, email, message or meet with us;
  • ask us to inspect a property or prepare a quote; or
  • enter into a contract or otherwise work with us.

We may also receive information from a co-owner, family member, referrer, supplier, subcontractor, building professional, council or other authority where this is relevant to your enquiry or project.

Meta instant forms

When you submit an instant form, Meta gives us the answers you choose to provide, such as your name, phone number, email, suburb and project details. Meta separately handles information about your use of Facebook and Instagram under its own privacy policy and settings.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • contact you and respond to your enquiry;
  • confirm whether your location and project are within our service scope;
  • arrange site visits and prepare estimates, quotes and contracts;
  • design, schedule, manage and complete work;
  • coordinate permits, engineering, materials, suppliers and trades;
  • process payments, keep business records and meet legal obligations;
  • protect our website and business from fraud, spam and misuse; and
  • understand and improve our website, advertising and customer service.

If you do not provide the information marked as required in a form, we may be unable to respond properly, assess the site or provide a quote. You can contact us without using an online form if you prefer.

We do not sell personal information. We will only send promotional email or SMS marketing where we have your consent or are otherwise permitted by law. You can opt out at any time using the instructions in the message or by contacting us. Service messages about an enquiry, quote or project are not marketing messages.

5. Who we share information with

We may disclose relevant information to:

  • employees, contractors and professional advisers who help us run the business;
  • suppliers, manufacturers and authorised dealer partners where needed to price, supply or support your project;
  • subcontractors, engineers, building surveyors, permit specialists, councils, utilities and other authorities involved in the work;
  • technology providers used for forms, email, document storage, website hosting, analytics, security and business administration;
  • payment, accounting, insurance, debt recovery and legal service providers; and
  • regulators, courts, law enforcement or other parties where required or authorised by law, or to protect people, property or our legal rights.

We limit disclosures to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

6. Overseas processing

Some technology providers process or store information outside Australia. This includes Meta for instant forms and advertising, Microsoft for Clarity analytics, and Web3Forms for website form delivery. Overseas locations may include the United States, India and other countries where those providers or their infrastructure partners operate.

Provider locations can change and it is not practicable for us to list every country used by their distributed systems. Each provider handles information under its own terms and privacy policy. Where required, we take reasonable steps in relation to overseas disclosures.

7. Website analytics and local storage

Our public website may use Microsoft Clarity to understand page views, clicks, scrolling and navigation through cookies and similar technologies. Form input values are masked from Clarity. You can restrict cookies through your browser settings, although some website features may work differently.

Our website estimators may temporarily save your selections in your browser so you do not lose your progress. These saved selections are stored on your device and are not sent to us unless you include them in an enquiry.

8. Storage, security and retention

We may hold information in email, cloud services, form systems, project files and business records. We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the information, including access controls and secure connections. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure.

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, our business records, warranties, disputes and legal or regulatory obligations. Retention periods vary depending on whether an enquiry proceeds to a quote, contract or completed building project. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it.

9. Your choices, access and correction

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request access to it, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. You may also withdraw a consent you previously gave, subject to any information we still need to retain or use by law.

Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within a reasonable period and, if we cannot fulfil a request, explain why where the law requires us to do so.

10. Questions and privacy complaints

Please contact us if you have a question, want to make a privacy request, or believe we have mishandled your information. Describe the issue and include enough detail for us to investigate. We will acknowledge and investigate a complaint, and aim to respond within 30 days.
